You are called
Ephesians 4:1-6
4 As a
prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling
you have received. 2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with
one another in love. 3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit
through the bond of peace. 4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were
called to one hope when you were called; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6
one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.
Whether you
know it or not we all have a calling on our lives. That’s right you have a
specific calling (job) you are to do for God. When I was preparing for this
message God gave me a vision in my mind of this.
We all were
in a large room in Heaven and God was standing at a podium and he would call a
name of one person and they would approach the podium. Then God would just say “music”
and then the person would disappear. The next one was called and God said “teaching”.
And then that one disappeared. This continued until the room full of people
became less and less. My vision was that God did exactly this when he created
you and me. He placed in us talents, gifts a calling and a purpose to your
life.
I work with
troubled youth and when talking to them I noticed that each of them have huge
dreams and plans, but yet they can’t stay out of trouble. This made me think
about us as sinners. God has huge plans for us. He has a purpose for us, but we
can’t stay out of sin. We sin and that blocks the path from us getting to where
we want and need to be with God. It keeps us from reaching our goals, dreams
and purpose.
Sometimes
our path becomes so blocked with sin we may become suicidal or feel as though
we should just give up. This is exactly what the devil wants. If he can create
enough snares, road blocks or what have you to where we can’t see the path, we
lose our way and get discouraged.
Psalm 16:11 -You
make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence,
with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
Matthew
7:14 - But small is the gate and
narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
God wants you to succeed. He wants us to prosper and be
joyous and happy. It is you and me that make the path a living hell. It is you
allowing the devil to have his way and make your path blocked.
I read a sign on the way home today that read this:
Give the devil an inch, and he will take over.
How true is that? Very true isn’t it? How many times have
you rededicated your life to God and promised that you were his forever from
this point on, only to fail him again? I myself have done it many, many times.
But you know what is truly amazing? Every time you have come back to God, how
many times has he refused to love you? Amazing isn’t it? That is an unfailing
love, a beautiful love like no other.
You may have given up on yourself, but God never, let me
repeat that NEVER gives up on you.
We must, we have to use our gifts, our talents and focus
on our purpose to drive us towards cleaning the brush and road blocks from our
path so that we can see it and begin our journey down it.
Proverbs
3:5-6 - Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on
your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him; And He will make your
paths straight.
God has given you all that you need
when he created you. He has given you a gift, a talent and a purpose. Share
with us and the world your gift from God. Stop letting the devil block that
path between you and God. You are called; you have a mission from the King.
Share it and watch how blessed you will be.
Proverbs 4:18 - The path of the
righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of
day.
It’s time for you to shine.
Tell someone about Jesus Christ today.
Until the whole world hears. JC
